#blogging from my #smartphone

I'm attempting to post from my phone today.
I'm in the car while Mary is in the Doc's office. Next we're headed for a movie while we're this close to Livonia. Batman? Bourne? Spiderman? Stay tuned!

Have you read my new book? #humor #rmdo

Have you read my new book? HUMILITY - AND HOW I ATTAINED IT!

I love/hate #Klout - #socialmedia #twitter #facebook

Well, I just signed up for Klout... for the third time.
Klout is a free social site influence measuring tool that works very hard at giving the user information about how they are doing as far as impacting the social internet.
Klout has been good to me, because supposedly I have a high score, between 51 to 60. President Obama has a perfect score with 100.
I've gotten several nice freebies because of my higher score, including several cool things I passed on to my daughters and Mary. Mary has enough toe nail polish to last till she dies.
I also received a couple of things I enjoyed, including a free year's subscription to The Red BULLetin, a magazine for guys and extreme athletes put out by the energy drink Red Bull.
What frustrates me about Klout is that the scoring is inconsistent. I noticed once after I posted a picture that was shared 26 times that my score dropped. I'm also less concerned about my social score and more about my blog views. This inconsistency bothered me so much that I've dropped out twice.
But I'm back in again. They are working hard to broaden their scoring info, which can only help me.
If you like lots of info, and you have nerves of steel, which sometimes I don't, I'd highly recommend them.
If, however, you're easily offended by the stupidity of computer engineers, you may want to wait 6 months before signing up.
Mary is in their corner. She says they're doing their best. Even when I'm really mad at them, I have to reluctantly agree with her.

Bringing light to #Kenya homes: #inspirational #fundraiser

80% of Kenyan homes are off the grid. They don't have electric power, so they use dangerous kerosene lanterns to light their homes. kerosene lanterns cause many house fires, and people, including children, die.
Boniface, a native of Kenya and a friend I worked along side of for years (2? 5? 100?) at Standard Motor Products in Mishawaka Indiana, has decided to do something about that.
He has come up with an idea and turned it into a project which will bring light to thousands of Kenyan homes.
His idea is to combine solar chargers with simple, easily assembled, and inexpensive parts to make an attractive, effective, frugal, and safe lantern that uses neither kerosene nor electricity of the grid.
His project includes fund raising and assembling the kits in Kenya. This project will save rural Kenyans money and, more importantly, lives.
Besides working along side of Boniface, I have been in Boniface's home. He has brought me a gift of Kenyan coffee. I have read stories to his youngest son. He is a real person with a real passion for helping his homeland. I am honored to be able to help by getting his story out.

If kisses were snowflakes: #romance #humor

When I first dated Mary I sent her 2 emails which made her heart swoon. She said I was the most romantic man in the world.
#1: If kisses were raindrops, I'd send you a rain storm!!
#2: If kisses were snow flakes, I'd send you a blizzard.
Last night as we were laying in bed recalling those notes, I added two more:
#3: If kisses were fleas, I'd send you a dog pound.
#4: If kisses were viruses, I'd send you a plague.
Mary laughed so hard she almost choked, but she said the new quotes weren't nearly as romantic as the first two.

#googleplus #ghosttown?! Critics #fail to get it

Facebook sends me a dozen notifications a day from gamblers wanting to suck up my time and money. Google Plus doesn't.
Twitter gives me half a dozen new followers a day who are prostitutes. Google Plus doesn't.
Facebook and Twitter throttles my timeline if I post heavily that day. Some Facebook friends sometimes defriend me if I post heavily. Some Twitter friends will unfollow if I don't keep up an incessant chatter or recommend them weekly. Google Plus friends don't.
Each of the social sites has their own strengths and weaknesses. I plan to continue using all three of the major social sites, Google Plus, Twitter, and Facebook. But I'm biased towards Google.
Google offered to monetize my blog, and offered a lot of help in doing so. I've made a couple of hundred bucks so far. Facebook and Twitter made no offers, not are there any plans to do so.
I also have information provided by Analytics (provided as a free service for Google bloggers) that notice that when I post on Google Plus, I have more views for a longer period than when I post on Facebook or Twitter. Like 2 to 3 times as many, and views days after posting, or even weeks after posting.
In fact, even if I don't post links of my blogs to any social site, I still views to my blogs, 300 per day even if I haven't posted for a week. Where do they come from? Google Search.
Google Plus hasn't shared my posts as much as Facebook or Twitter, but that's changing rapidly. Recently I posted a humorous picture about Curiosity, the Mars rover.  It had 9 pluses and 23 shares. Admittedly, the humor was geekier than my normal insanity and cute kittens humor.

For a social media leader, I have strong anti-social tendencies. Maybe that's why I prefer Google Plus. Less chatter, and I get more accomplished.

#men #cooking #dinner: #stirfry #beef

I'm trying to get back in the habit of cooking every day. Mary is a great cook, but hates to cook. I like to cook.
Originally posted 8/13/12
Yesterday I made oven fried chicken thighs with sliced potato wedges coated with Miracle Whip and Italian seasoned bread crumbs, a low fat recipe we got off of Dr. Oz. Mary said it was delicious.
Today I cut up 2 boneless chuck roasts we bought at Wal-Mart on manager's special into 5 small pieces, and froze four of them. I cut the remaining one into thin strips, then cut baby red potatoes, 2 carrots, a handful of red cabbage, half a red onion and red bell pepper.
I started with the electric fry pan at 300 degrees, 2 tablespoons of coconut oil, and cooked the chuck strips until the outsides were done.
I added the hard veggies, taters and carrots (next time I'll add the cabbage also) along with the seasonings (honey, soy sauce, salt less seasoning from Costco, and lightly salted) and cooked till the taters were done.
Last I added the soft veggies, including a bag of wilting salad that I carefully picked through, put the cover on and cooked for 5 more minutes.
Mary made a half gallon of tea, and we sat down had a delicious, nutritious, very inexpensive, and simple to prepare dinner. Again, Mary liked it.
To top it off, the leftover will go into a soup pan, I'll add some Wal-Mart Great Value White Corn and Black Bean Salsa, a little water, a teaspoon of taco seasoning, and make Miracle Salsa Soup.

Anti tech mother earth recluse: #God #providence

Today I posted the final three chapters of my ebook, The Gift Parables. If it were not for the Parables and the finger of God pushing me in the back to publish these stories, (like Mom used to do with music), I would still be an anti tech recluse, reading Mother Earth magazine and tending a 50 by 200 foot garden after I retired, which I would not have done till I was probably 70.
Instead I "dink" with my 7 blogs (I did have 12) with nearly 140,000 page views, and 3 social sites with 7000 friends and followers as I try to tell this message to 130 countries in 60 languages.
At least we're having fun!

#chromebook: #google, #samsung, #verizon not playing well together

I'm having a big problem with my Samsung Chromebook. It works fine with ATT UVerse wifi but only works in a limited way on my Samsung Android Stratosphere hotspot.
I can't get any of my Google apps to work except sometime the news and Google Plus. I do get Facebook and my bank website. Today I can't pull up Twitter.I'm done trying different stuff as I didn't buy this to become a developer but just looking for a hassle free way to blog. I've already spent scores of hours trying different suggestions.
I'm beginning to think Google, Samsung, and Verizon don't play well together.

#thankful for #grace from #jesus #prayer

I'm thankful, Jesus, for Your Grace.
Grace compels me to good when I don't want to.
Grace restrains me from doing evil when I want to do evil.
Fill my life, my heart, my words, my actions, my attitudes, my love with overflowing, overpowering GRACE!
