Wild Thing
Mary's back to sleep after our morning routine of changing soaked incontinence underwear and/or pajamas and/or bedding.
We had an exciting and delightful day yesterday when my youngest daughter, her husband, and oldest son came to visit Mary and me. Because they were coming and we were up relatively early, I gave Mary an extra 3rd dose of both Pepto Bismol and lorazapam, a narcotic that Hospice started her on back when she was under Hospice care. It helps calm her tummy, which I call Wild Thing.
Flash back warning! I sing the Wild Thing song to Mary in the voice of the Troggs. Wild thing! You make my heart sing! You make everything... Groovy! chord riff! I wanna know for sure! chord riff!! I think I love you! It always makes her smile.
During Mary's epic 2015 hospital stays and emergency intestinal surgery in which two of the finest surgeons in the world at the University of Michigan removed 4 4 inch pieces of dead, blocked intestines. They told us Mary would now always have diarrhea. Supposedly she would never have constipation again.
And yet we missed a bowel movement yesterday. We will hold off on cheese, Pepto, and Lorazapam today. We'll start the day with Minudo soup. We'll have French toast with butter and syrup next. We'll have lots of fluids. If that doesn't start things moving, we'll have a dose of Miralax. When it does kick loose, we may have a mess. Or not.
God is good. Life is exciting. Stay tuned.

Changing Daily Protocols
I literally live one day at a time.
This started when my first wife was dying. I couldn't exist without a constant stream of worship and prayer to keep with all the responsibilities of Lynne, family, job, home, church. My to-do list was made up as I went.
The steps of a man are ordered by the Lord. That's every man, woman, and child, good and bad.
Taking care of my Alzheimer's stricken Mary, last night I was too tired to write, so I turned the lights off at 12:30 am. I laid down, but didn't sleep till 3;30 am. Mary's pattern is very close to mine. She laid next me talking quietly till 3 am, then fell asleep.
We both woke up at 7 because of the daylight pouring in our window. I helped her get out of her wet clothes and put dry clothes and a fresh pair of McKesson ultra heavy duty incontinence panties. I changed the top sheet and got my exercise in by lifting up the heavy mattress. I make Mary smile by saying ME STRONG LIKE BULL! SHOW OFF IN FRONT OF PRETTY WOMAN!
Because 3 1/2 hours of sleep is short of my goal of 9 hours, I will have to get 1 or 2 power naps in today, Lord willing.
Your prayers and encouraging words are deeply appreciated!

Weaponized Grace
Every particle of grace contains all the knowledge of God and all the power of God and all of the presence of God.
It can be used defensively and offensively. It knows what you need for that moment and becomes strength to bear a trial or a miraculous release, boldness to speak or restraint to hold your peace.
Humility is the requirement. Quick to forgive. To give the credit to God. To encourage.
My constant prayer for you is that God would rain grace down on you and yours, that your heart would become a spring of grace constantly flowing, that others would join us, let the springs merge into rivers, till the earth would be covered with oceans of grace until the earth is filled with knowledge of God, in Jesus' name.

Morning Mission Accomplished
Today was a typical morning routine. I slowly stirred around first, setting up the room first. I laid out dry clothes for Mary, and a fresh set of heavy duty absorbent panties. As I stirred around, Mary woke up, and together we changed her clothes and panties.
After we changed her clothes, I had to also change the bedding. I pulled off the wet sheet and the ultra absorbent protector pads nickname "chucks". When you're done with them, you just chuck em. The mattress is very heavy, so I get a workout lifting up the corners. I noticed today my back didn't hurt, so I am getting stronger.
I give her something to drink because she's very thirsty, and if her tummy is upset, I'll give her a dose of pepto bismol and a relaxant called Lorazapam. When I say Lorazapam Mary and I use jazz hands like weird Al Yankovick cause the name sounds jazzy.
I then tuck Mary into bed, cover her with a dry blanket, go out into the hallway, start the warshing machine. add the soap, Lysol, and Oxyclean, pick up the wet laundry and stuff it in the machine. After ti fills and runs for a minute, I'll shut it off. After checking communications, I'll lay down for a power nap. Morning mission accomplished.
