Sell Apple Now; Best Investment Ever

Apple has gone where few stocks have gone in the past. Their capitalization, that is to say, their price per share times the amount of Apple shares issued, has reached the incredible number of $500 BILLION (USD). That leads me to make this unusual proclamation: SELL APPLE NOW!

Not all of it, silly! Let me explain. 
You or your investment manager should be investing in a minimum of 10 companies to spread the risk. If Apple was one of those stocks, Apple's high value has by now weighted your portfolio of stocks beyond the recommended 10% limit of any one company. Now is the time to sell enough shares of Apple to bring that percentage down to 10% although I would recommend never sell more than half of a highly successful company. If it was a good investment before, it will remain a good investment.
Now that you have all that spare cash, where should you put your money?
Do what I did. Put that money in the best investment you've ever made, your lovely wife. Take her anywhere she wants to go, give her anything she wants to have. I cashed out my entire retirement in 2008, around the time in April when the Dow Jones reached it's historic high, and spent it all on my late wife Lynne. BEST INVESTMENT I EVER MADE!
We put carpet in the bedroom and living room, hardwood floor in the dining room, bought several high end sewing and stitching machines, took her to Wisconsin Dells. She traveled to Canada to see her long lost cousin, took a trip to Kentucky to a craft show with her friend.
She had been diagnosed with cancer almost 9 years earlier. In October of 2008 she passed away.

Final Basketball Trip

After deciding at the last moment to go with me, Mary, Buster, and I headed from South Lyon, Michigan to our first stop on our final basketball trip for the year. Originally we had planned a two part trip, with me going down on the Amtrak train, staying at the Indiana house from Monday 2/27 to Monday 3/5. Then after a train trip home, Mary and I would drive down together and stay at her sister's home in Mishawaka Indiana till the 13th of March. We would stay there while her sister Lois and husband Mark Black would take a vacation and we would keep Mary's Mom company.

Instead we went together for the entire trip. We headed first to Elkhart Christian Academy where our girls faced some very tough opponents. The elementary girls with Libby were able to eke out a win, 15 to 9, but the Junior High girls fell behind early in the game, and the lead of the opposing team only grew as the game wore on.

Junior High teams are made up of 7th and 8th graders, and sometimes girls from other ages are allowed to play up or down if the other team and rules permit it. We always encourage our girls to play up if possible, and never down, to bring our girls up their skills, rather than focusing on the win.  In our case we had at least two of our 6th graders play up just to make a full roster.

Combine that with the fact that we only had one 8th grader, and this made for a very young team. This normally didn't hinder us, for several of the girls had played together since the second grade, and their favorite pastime was taken on older, bigger teams and shutting them down.
But this time was different. The opposing team had 6 8th grade girls, and may have played down a 9th grader to fill their roster. Yes we allowed it. It gives our girls the chance to play higher skill levels.

Allie, my 13 year old 5' 4" grand daughter is standing between her friends Kaylin Brody, 6 foot one inch at age 13, and her sister Anna Brody, age 11. They joined the MCAC this year. It's their first year of basketball, and they are already making a powerful contribution.

I knew we were in trouble when they stole the ball from us almost as much as we stole the ball from them. (Stealing the ball is our specialty.) Final score for the Junior High was Elkhart Christian - 31, our team 9. Allie made 7 of those points. 6'1" Kaylin also made a basket. More to come later.

Facebook, Twitter Unplanned Shutdown

Most Facebook users are totally unaware of Facebook's unplanned shutdown, the first ever, on the February 30 and 31. Be sure to mark this on your calendar FIRST before passing this on to as many people possible. Those dates again are February 30 and February 31.

A similar unplanned shutdown is taking Twitter followers unawares for the same dates, February 30 and February 31. Take special care to note these dates on your calendar before RTing to as many Tweeters as possible.

Predictable

Writing from Indiana today. 

There are two reasons why my lovely daughters have a hard time predicting my lovely wife Mary. One reason is that Mary is not their mother, and they knew their mother well, as most daughters do. The second reason is that Lynne was predictable, a word unlikely to ever precede Mary's name. 

At the very last moment, Mary had me cancel the Amtrak train tickets for myself and we drove down together, along with Buster, from Michigan to Indiana where we'll stay for a while, watching basketball games and working on the house.

Kris

The pain of missing him has not lessened one iota. I love him dearly. God is not God of the dead but of the living.

Kris is documentation that the Dittmer gene line has a gift for attracting better looking, more intelligent mates to continuously improve the gene pool. My observations of my relatives supports this thesis 100%. I am the BEST example.
