How to speed up an old computer:
Go into your control panel. Next go into improve performance. Do three things.
1Adjust appearance. Find & click the setting that says adjust the appearance for best performance.
2. Open & start disk clean up. I do this twice a day.
3. In advance tools, go to disk defragger and start. I do this twice a day.
I don't store pictures permanently on my computer. I store my pictures on 3 cloud devices, Picasa Web, Facebook, and Twitpic, and then delete them from the computer. However, if you don't do disk clean up, they're still there in the trash can file, so I do both.

To keep your cookies from overwhelming your old computer, just restart your computer. I do this whenever it starts to slow down or lock up. If it locks up, don't wait, just hold down the off-on button for 10 seconds or till it shuts off, then restart.I run 10, 20, even 30 tabs on a computer that is 6 years old.
Another trick is to close unused high traffic tabs like Facebook if I'm done.
Still another trick is to pin a tab (right click). It freezes the refresher.
One more trick. With your browser you switch to text only. I did this for a really old computer, and it sped things up immensely, but no pictures.

IMPORTANT: for Amazon to sponsor my blog, YOU MUST GO TO THE SITE THROUGH (CLICK ON) THE AMAZONWIRELESS BANNER (at the bottom of this blog).
Amazon is offering powerful incentives to get their Wireless Company off and running, including a $100 Amazon Gift Card, plus sponsoring my blog with another $50. If you're considering opening or adding a new wireless line (WARNNG! It is a 2 year contract with a $350 early termination fee!) NOW WOULD BE THE PERFECT TIME.
MORE INFO! The $100 gift card is for those who sign up for the hot spot w ifi feature that adds additional charges to your contract. On Verizon, the additional charges would be by the Gigabyte of data used, around $10. You can connect your old computer to the internet anywhere through the wi fi hot spot, if your old computer has wi fi. (Don't load videos including YouTube with this feature, which can get expensive if you stray away from doing business on your computer. Instead, down load videos when you have free wi fi.) Mary and I are going to use this feature in Indiana to stay connected to you guys (Midwestern slang for you all or y'all).
