Devotions from Psalms 119

My great need is to pray more and to get into God's Word more, and Psalms 119 is a powerful tool that I rely on over and over.

The structure of Psalms 119 is unique. Almost every verse is both a prayer and a comment on The Word of God, and can stand alone. There are 8 verses per grouping and each grouping starts with a letter of the Hebrew alphabet as a memory aid.
The verses are supremely motivating to DRAW ME INTO PRAYER AND THE WORD OF GOD SIMULTANEOUSLY!

I come back to this chapter repeatedly for my meditation. I can not say enough about how motivating this chapter is, if you will pursue it like a lifetime treasure hunt!

15I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.

There are ways, or paths that God chooses. The way of fatherhood or motherhood, the way of the father or a mother, the way of a believer.

God has chosen the method of pathways  to be a lesson teaching tool.

The world's method are classrooms and theaters, where every word is scripted and nuanced, where there is heavy competition for the best parts or best grades, where myths are perpetuated, where the audience or class is encouraged to worship the heroes.

The pathway is unscripted. Honest hearts are encouraged. There are plenty of opportunities to observe life, to compare, to allow God to reveal, to define and journal what we have seen.

We are so in love with the theater of the world that we tend to look down on the pathways that God has called us to.

I am "just" a husband. I am "just" a child. I am "just" a believer. I am "just" a mother. ???!!!

Friend, in God's Kingdom, which we are to seek, there is no such thing as "just a" anything. We are children of the Lion of Judah, the King of Kings, The Master Shepherd.

We are lion cubs, Princes and Princesses, shepherd's.

I am a father, a husband, a believer. I am honored that God has called me to these pathways.

I give myself and you permission to praise God for Who He is, and thank Him for what He does.
